40 years old! I can’t believe I’m forty years old! I never even dreamed of being 40. I mean when I was a kid, I couldn’t wait to be 13 so I’d finally be a teenager. As if this age magically made me more mature. If anything it made me less mature! But then I couldn’t wait to be 16 so I could get a license. However, I never got a license when I was 16. Instead I quit school! When I was a teenager, you had to be in school or be 18 to get your license. Anyway, then I couldn’t wait to be 18. After that, age became irrelevant because I came to prison at 20.

Now here I sit at 40 and once again, nothing magically changed. I look in the mirror and see a little grey hair and a few scars but overall it’s the same guy looking back at me that I stared at in a mirror 20 years ago, physically anyway.
